Two Footballers Shot Dead By Unknown Gunmen
Mexican authorities reported the death of
two third division club Chilpancingo Hornets players after their team
bus was waylaid by unknown gunmen in a the state of Guerrero
The
attack which also took four other lives began when rioting students
from a teachers college tried to seize three buses; one student was
reported dead in the snatch after state municipal officers chased the
students and shot at them; teachers’ organization, United Front of
Teacher Colleges of Guerrero disclosed.
The UFTG
also claimed that 10people were wounded and another 20 detained in
Guerrero, which is famous as Mexico's poorest and most violent state,
marked by drug gang turf wars and frequent protests by teachers
resisting reforms.
A woman and a taxi driver were
amongst the other dead four in the shootout, while about 300 Municipal
Officers who shot at the students were detained.
