Customs Impound N322 Million Worth Of Contraband Goods.

The Federal Operations Unit Zone C of the Nigeria Customs Service, comprising of all south east and south south states, have impounded contraband goods with a total duty paid value amounting to N322 million,including 82 smuggled exotic cars, 400 cartoons of turkey groundnut oil which was concealed in a luxurious truck and 4 trailer load of expired rices.
 

The Controller of the Unit, Mr Victor Dimka, said the seizures were made along Benin axis, adding that the success recorded was made possible by intelligence information gathered by his men and the robust synergy between the men of the Nigerian Customs and other security outfits in the country.
He said the officers and men of the Nigerian Customs Service are committed more than ever to fight smuggling to a stand still because they are better motivated and equipped with modern day technologies.
He advised smugglers and would be smugglers to quit smuggling and search for a legal means of earning a living that will be more profitable, insisting that there will be no hiding place for smugglers until smuggling is brought to its end in the country.
He further noted that 26 suspects were arrested with the seized goods and will be taken to court to face the full wrath of the law.
