The Peoples Democratic Party has called for the resignation of the Speaker of the House

representatives, Aminu Tambuwal over his defection to the
All Progressives Congress.
Tambuwal announced his defection on Tuesday, October 28, during the House plenary.
The PDP has asked the speaker to step down due to the fact that he was elected on its platform and because his new party is a minority in the House.
The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisah Metuh said via a statement:
“The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has met with PDP leaders in the House of Representatives concerning the defection of the Speaker, His Excellency, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal to the APC.”
“After a thorough consideration of the matter, the NWC came to a conclusion that the Hon. Speaker, as a responsible elected officer, knows full well what is needful and honourable of him since his new party is in the minority.”
"We are not unmindful of the fact that Hon. Tambuwal became Speaker on the platform of the PDP as the political party with the majority of seats in the House of Representatives and that this incontrovertible fact has not changed.”
Reports have it that Tambuwal delayed his defection due to fears that he would lose his position as speaker of the House.
He is expected to contest the 2015 governorship elections in Sokoto on the platform of the APC.
