Which artist will be the winner of the headies?

Which artist will be the winner of the Headies 2014 Next Rated category? Which act will join the likes of Wande Coal, Asa, Wizkid, Omawumi and Davido in the illustrious Next Rated club of the Headies? Today, we look at each nominee's chance of winning the Next Rated category.
1) Skales- Early this year, Skales was written off as dead. Many perceived his exit from EME as the death of a once promising act. Skales however shocked the industry by releasing the instant hit 'Shake Body'. The massive single has made Skales the biggest contender in this category. His new record deal has given him a new lease of life and is one of the most buzzing acts in the country. It seems the car might be heading to Skales if he continues his resurrection and momentum.

2) Patoranking- In some quarters this Dancehall upstart is seen as the act with the biggest chance of winning the coveted Next Rated category, and not Skales. Within a year, Patoranking has risen through the ranks to be one of the most promising artists in the country. His 2013 single 'Alubarika' got him noticed, but it was the remix to his follow up single 'Girlie O' featuring Tiwa Savage shot him to the mainstream fame. He is a much sought after act presently in the country. If this was down to a bet , Patoranking would have a strong shot at this too.
3) Orezi- Orezi isn't sort of a freshman. His name has been buzzing in the background since 2008. The year in review has however seen him to be consistent with good hit singles. He currently has the singles 'You Garrit', and 'Shoki' under his belt. These are two big singles that should help him sway some votes his way. Unless he drops another banger before voting ends, its hard to see Orezi getting more votes than Patoranking and Skales.
4) Runtown- This artist's rise coincided with the rise of Patoranking. Several observers and critics have tagged them as the leaders of the next class of pop acts to blow. After an impressive verse on 'Emergency' and his hit single 'Gallardo' featuring Davido, Runtown is a freshman who has highly impressed music listeners and veterans in the music industry. The buzz around him slowed down a little bit after 'Gallardo' but the newbie has picked up steam with one of his recent singles 'Domot'.
5) Yemi Alade- The beautiful singer is the only female act in this category. Don't get it twisted, Yemi Alade is far from the token female act placed in the category just to represent the female demographic. She has a huge shot at winning this category thanks to her runaway single 'Johnny'. It is arguably the biggest song from any act in this category. She, Skales and Patoranking will go down fighting for this category. She also has an album out. That should swing in a few more votes her way.
