Jonathan’s Eligibility: Court Will Be Held On Dec., 1

On December, 1 the Federal High Court in Abuja will hold hearing in two different suits challenging the eligibility of President Goodluck Jonathan to take part in 2015 presidential election, the Leadership informs
The first suit: the plaintiffs, Mase Daphine Acho, Saeeq Umar Sarki (both lawyers) and Murtala Abubakar are claim that Jonathan and Sambo are ineligible to be elected as president and vice president respectively.
The second suit:  two politicians, Adejumo Ajagbe and Olatoye Wahab, are asking the court for an order restraining INEC and the AGF from allowing Jonathan and his vice, Namadi Sambo to seek re-election in 2015.

Earlier Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi formerly of the Abuja High Court dismissed a similar suit.
Not satisfied with the judgement, the plaintiff in that suit, Cyriacus Njoku had approached the Court of Appeal to challenge the decision.
According to Nigeria’s constitution, a president can only serve two terms, which the opposition claims Jonathan has already served. It was said that the opposing politicians were waiting for President Jonathan to officially declare so that they can embark on the legal battle, since any move in that direction now would only result to a wild goose chase.
