Dubai police to use google glasses.
Police may start using Google Glasses for its traffic services operations soon. The department is testing the glasses to send live feed to the operations room during an accident. The glass, powered by Avaya Smart Connect Technology, will act as remote eyes for the operations room police officers and assist them in making decisions based on the visuals.
Dubai Police will be the first government entity to use Google Glass.
“We had talks with Google and we are currently waiting to get their approval for officially releasing Google Glass in the UAE market,” said Captain Saadi Hassan Ahmad Jasem, Director of the Quality Assurance Office at the General Department of Smart Services.

The officer added that they have been testing the live feed with the help of 10 glasses since a month and plan to provide every traffic patrol officer with one.
The glass will have two customized applications: one for photographing the traffic violations and the other that aids in identifying wanted cars by just looking at its number plate, Colonel Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, General Director of Smart Services at Dubai Police had said earlier.
Dubai Police has been at the forefront of assisting its residents by endorsing latest technologies.
They had recently launched a Dubai Police app “We Are All Police” seeking public with Google Glasses to report traffic violations.
Earlier in September, the department announced Dubai Police Kiosks, which also make use of Avaya Smart Connect Technology, through which people can finish their paperwork as they talk to a police officer and get their documents printed through the machine round the clock. This cuts down the need for a person to visit the police station.
Google Glass and Dubai Police Kiosks, together, are part of “We Serve” initiative.
Google Glasses, a wearable Internet-based technology with optical head mounted display (OHMD) developed by Google, displays information like a hands-free format smartphone and uses natural language voice commands to communicate. Launched for a limited period in April 2013, the product was available to the public in May 2014
